Future-Self Meditation is exactly as it sounds: you close your eyes and imagine yourself in the future. This focused meditation reveals what you need to know now about where you’re going.
Meditation helps us gain clarity and calmness within. While there are many types of meditation styles, this specific practice gives us insight into our unconscious mind for direction.
Get Grounded 🪨
Close your eyes and get comfortable in your skin.
Feel your feet on the floor. 👣
Feel your hips on the chair. 🪑
Anchor to your breath. 🧘🏻♀️
Getting grounded allows you to be in the present moment. This is where we want to start and finish.
Zoom Out 👀
Once you’re grounded, zoom out and imagine standing in front of yourself.
Notice what clothes you are wearing.
Notice the expression on your face.
Look around the room and see what’s on the walls and floor.
See yourself in real-time.
Zooming out allows the eyes of the mind to sharpen so you can see the future more clearly.
Future Self 👤
Once you’ve zoomed out in real-time, imagine yourself precisely one year from now.
Mark the date in your mind, Month, Day, Year + 1.
Where are you?
Who are you with?
What are you wearing?
What are you doing?
What’s the mood tone?
How is the expression on your face?
Observe and take in the details.
Ask Your Future Self 🫂
Walk up to your future self and look them in the eyes. Ask your Future Self:
“What do I need to know right now?”
When they are done talking, ask:
“Is there anything else I need to know?”
When you are done, give your Future Self a big hug. Feel their arms wrapped around you, and then come back into your seat in the present moment.
